On Monday, November 19, HSADD held our 8th Annual Turkey Dinner Giveaway.
Our students participated in Spirit week from November 5th – 9th and each day that they participated they paid $1.00 knowing the money was going to help needy families. The students had a great time participating in crazy hat day, crazy sock day, orange and black day, twin day and dress down day. It was a great idea letting the students have some fun but bringing in their $1.00 to go for a great cause.
We contacted the Kroger on Smithville Road and spoke with the Manager, James McCurdy who wanted to help with the giveaway by giving us a good price on the turkeys. His Assistant Manager Stacy Loughman assisted in pricing and helping organize the turkeys and bags of groceries so they were ready for pick up.
We were able to feed 20 of our Horizon families with a 16 pound turkey and all the trimmings needed to make a complete turkey dinner to even include a pumpkin pie for dessert
Our families were very appreciative and our students feel proud that they helped feed some of our families here at Horizon Science Academy Dayton Downtown! “
