Who are we?

  Founded in 2010, Horizon Science Academy Dayton Downtown is a public charter school serving approximately 220 students in grades K-8. The academy offers an innovative, world-class education rich in math, science, and technology, preparing students to become confident inquirers, problem solvers, and ethical leaders. Our focus is on equipping students with the skills needed for post-secondary education and to thrive in a competitive global workforce.

 

  As you walk through the doors of our school, you can sense something unique and powerful. Students of various nationalities, races, economic backgrounds, and academic levels display unspoken confidence. The hallways are filled with excitement, and upon meeting our students and faculty, it becomes evident that this school is dedicated to changing lives.

 

  We cultivate a culture based on shared values, accountability among students, teachers, and parents, and high expectations that lead to impressive levels of student achievement. Our administrators, teachers, and families hold high expectations for our students, and in turn, students have high expectations of their teachers.

 

  Horizon Science Academy Dayton Downtown is operated by Concept Schools, a not-for-profit charter management organization that oversees high-quality charter schools in the Midwest.
